Walter Wheeler Associates is the law practice of Walter S. Wheeler III, a specialist in Michigan health law and regulation.

Mr. Wheeler is a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Law and the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health. He was the chief draftsman of the original Michigan Public Health Code and was responsible for implementing state health laws as Director of the Office of Legal and Legislative Affairs of the Michigan Department of Public Health and as Director of the Bureau of Health Systems of the Michigan Department of Community Health.

Mr. Wheeler has over 32 years of experience in health law, health regulation and health policy development, with particular expertise in the licensure and certification of hospitals, nursing homes, health care organizations, health care professions and the implementation Michigan's Certificate of Need Law. Mr. Wheeler also served as departmental representative on the Michigan State Hospital Finance Authority, the Board of the Michigan Center for Rural Health and the Michigan Homeland Security Advisory Council.

Mr. Wheeler has been a member of the State Bar of Michigan since 1972 and was a founding member of the Health Law Section of the Michigan State Bar Association.
